Olanrewaju Kayode is so ecstatic after Sivasspor’s 1-0 victory against FC Petrocub Hincesti in the UEFA Europa Conference League that he has called it a ‘step in the right direction’.
Kayode started the 2021/22 season with a bang as he scored the only goal of the game in Sivasspor’s 1-0 win against Moldovan side, Hincesti in the Europa Conference League qualification.
It is the maiden edition of the elite competition organized by UEFA and the winners of the 2021/22 will automatically make it through into the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League group stage.
Kayode’s goal has sealed a spot in the fourth round of Europa Conference League qualifying for Turkish Super Lig club, Sivasspor whom he re-joined on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine.
And furthermore, it was the Nigerian forward’s 81st career goal in 236 appearances across all competitions and that is considering the fact that he is not even an out and out number nine.
Sivasspor will face Dinamo Batumi of Georgia in the fourth qualifying round and Kayode has taken his time out on Instagram to write: “Big win and a step in the right direction! Team Lk8.”
The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Sivasspor and was one of the standout performers for the club. His fellow Nigerian compatriot, Leke James played for six minutes versus Hincesti.
Meanwhile, Kayode was such a huge performer for Sivasspor last season after he scored eleven goals and provided two assists in 40 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish outfit.
