Hon. High Chief Canice Nwachukwu: A New Dawn For Orlu, Orsu, And Oru East Federal Constituency

On Saturday, October 29th, 2022, the Orlu zone stood still. It stood still not for a negative reason, but rather, it stood still because of a new dawn, a new dawn of progress and transformation which are about to come to the zone through one of her illustrious sons.

This son of hers is none other than the Hon. High Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu Omeogo. It was a new dawn as Hon. High Chief Canice Nwachukwu officially flagged off his campaign to contest the House of Representatives seat for Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency at the National Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The flag-off which was attended by top political leaders including the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, his deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku, members of the national assembly amongst several others saw Hon. High Chief Canice reeling out his sterling leadership qualities, what stands him out, and what he intends to do for the federal constituency once he is elected to represent it in the 2023 general election.

At the flag-off, one major statement that Hon. High Chief Canice has always had in mind and has been emphasising is that the 2023 general elections will be about the people, capacity, competence, grassroots appeal, credibility, and trust. This statement is not only selfless but can only come from a true leader with good intentions for his people.

Listening to his manifesto at the flag-off, one can only conclude that Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency will surely be in good hands in 2023 only if Omeogo finds his way to the green chambers through the ballot.

For the record, this is a part of his manifesto, that is breathtaking:

“For the love of my people – Ndi Orlu,
Ndi Orsu na Ndi Oru East – I have committed myself to do the hard work and ensure that
the voice of this constituency in the National Assembly does not go dim. Ndi be’anyi are
not known to take the back seat. That is why we MUST not go for anyone that will drop the
ball and lower the standards. We must go for the best among us and with all sense of
humility, Omeogo is, without a doubt, the man for the job.

“What will I be bringing to the table? Those who know me well as a man of integrity and
action already know my capacity and worth. But for the sake of emphasis, let me give a
hint of what this constituency stands to gain from my quality representation.

“If there is anything I have learned from the Executive Governor of Imo State,
Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, it is the power of constructive engagement.
His excellent rapport with the federal government has yielded several positive results.

“One of them is that the Federal College of Education will soon be converted to a Federal University of Education. Remember that this was initially the case but due to poor
engagement by the previous administration in Imo state, the conversion was reversed.
Onwa rebuilt the relationship from the scratch and soon, the conversion will be completed.

“How does this concern us? I am of the strong opinion that the Imo state still deserves a Federal College of Education. Kaduna state alone has over 5 federal government tertiary
institutions that are recognised by law. People made it possible.

“I will push, lobby, and engage constructively to see to the establishment of another Federal College of Education in this constituency. I am aware that my contemporaries in this race are clueless and without plans. Let it be known that you heard this first from Omeogo.

“There are current efforts to address the indigene-ship and citizenship question in the
Nigerian constitution. Igbos are known to travel far and wide and I will work closely with my colleagues in the South East and other parts of the country to protect the rights of all Nigerians living in places other than their state of origin. I will also propose an amendment to the local content policy to expand its scope in order for my people to benefit from government project execution in our locality.”

For these, Ndi Orlu, Ndi Orsu na Ndi Oru East can rest assured that Omeogo is contesting to deliver, not to pilfer. He is contesting to be awake, not to slumber.
