People Of Ihioma Clan Rejects Poll Result, Wants INEC To Remedy Announcement Of Chief Osita Izunazo As Winner
The Ihioma Strategic Political Forum has aligned itself with the senatorial candidate of Imo West senatorial district, Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize of the Labour Party (LP) in rejecting the result of the zone in the February 25th election which INEC announced in favour of Chief Osita Izunaso of the APC.
In a strongly worded statement issued by its Coordinator and Secretary, Hon. Dr. Sab Okolie (Ochendu) and Pharm Ikenna Law Eresama, the forum said the people of the Ihioma clan which consists of Six autonomous communities, with close to thirty polling units did not in any way, participate in the poll due to insecurity in the area and Orlu Local Government at large.
According to the statement, the inconsistencies in the IRev INEC Portal are annoying as in one bit, it shows no election and, in another trial click it shows election results.
The statement reads, “We want to make it known to the general public that whatever results or figures shown on IRev INEC Portal is not and cannot be associated with the Ihioma clan as the people never voted in the elections due to insecurity in our area.
“We also want to inform INEC and the good people of Imo State that; the entire people of Ihioma Clan stand with Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize in rejecting the result of Orlu Senatorial Zone election which INEC announced in favour of Chief Osita Izunaso of the APC.”
The statement noted further that the people of the Ihioma clan will not accept being disenfranchised in an election where her son is a contestant for the senatorial seat of Imo West senatorial seat.
“We, therefore, call on INEC to remedy the wrong of announcing Chief Osita Izunazo of APC as the winner of an election that was not conducted,” the statement noted.
