Early results indicate that Desmond Elliot is leading his opponent, Olumide Oworu
A few results have already surfaced that prove that Desmond Olusola Elliot is leading the Lagos state House of Assembly Surulere Constituency 1.
There were reports of voters suppression and threat.
There is also news of ballot box snatching and ballot paper destruction.
The series of election malpractices is believed to have negatively impacted the outcome of the results.
The Labour Party candidate, Oworu was tipped to win the Surulere Constituency 1 election, but the outcome was not in favour of him.
Many voters testified that they weren’t allowed to vote.
Some said they were threatened to go back home.
In other places in surulere, people from other tribes were deprived the opportunity to carry out their franchise.
This could be the reason for the outcome of the result and also the low turn out.
The election results seen so far are not really showing signs of true democracy.
