Tribunal to hear Atiku’s petition against Tinubu Today

The Presidential Election Tribunal has said the pre-hearing of the petition filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar against the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) shall be entertained on Thursday.
This was disclosed on Tuesday at the resumed hearing of the matters presented to the tribunal.
Overtnews reports that Atiku had filed a petition alongside his party, PDP requesting to nullify the victory of Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.
Atiku and his party accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of manipulating the electoral process to favour the winner of the election, Tinubu.
To this, he charged the court to declare him as the President-elect.
Atiku’s lawyer, Chris Uche while addressing the court on Tuesday said Tinubu and INEC rely on 4:00am to make their announcement.
He, however clarified that Atiku’s petition will be heard by 2:00pm on Thursday and not 2:00am.
Another request that will be entertained by the tribunal is to determine whether the proceedings should aired live on television.
Also, the presiding justice, Justice Haruna Tsammani also said the fresh motions brought by Tinubu’s legal team seeking to dismiss Atiku’s petition at pre-hearing stage will be entertained on the adjourned date.
