Nigeria’s former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has been appointed as a global advisor to Global Energy Alliance For People and Planet (GEAPP).
This was disclosed in a statement issued by GEAPP on their Twitter account on Tuesday.
Overtnews reports that Osinbajo in his appointment will guide GEAPP’s mission to accelerate clean energy deployment in emerging economies.
“As a champion for just energy transitions in Africa, Prof Osinbajo will work alongside Energy Alliance to unlock greater capital flows into the clean energy sector & boost Africa’s share in the global carbon market through the Africa Carbon Markets Initiative.
“Energy Alliance CEO, Simon Harford, praises Prof Osinbajo’s expertise, leadership and global network as a valuable catalyst “for our mission.”
Meanwhile, responding the appointment, the former Vice president, in a tweet on Tuesday, wrote “I am excited to announce that I have been appointed Global Advisor to Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet
“Together, we will work to unlock capital flows into the clean energy sector and boost Africa’s share in the global carbon market.
“GEAPP in such a short period have demonstrated a commitment to support developing countries’ shift to a clean energy using models that ensure universal energy access as well as drive economic growth, generate jobs & sustainable livelihoods and meet urgent climate goals.
“I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with Energy Alliance.”
