For the first time since the inauguration of a new administration, current and immediate past governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have decided to have a meeting.
Overtnews reports that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed have arrived in Akwa Ibom State at the crucial meeting hosted by Governor Umo Eno.
It is believed the meeting is geared towards strengthening the unity of the party since the PDP lost out of the February 25 presidential election.
Some of the governors prior to the election parted ways to support candidates of their choice.
A notable member of the party, the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who spare headed the G-5 Governor after losing out of on the party’s primary disassociated himself from the party’s presidential campaign in which Atiku Abubakar emerged as the party’s flag bearer.
Among the G-5 Governors included Wike who was the arrow head, Governors Makinde; Abia (Okezie Ikpeazu); Enugu (Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi); and Benue ( Samuel Ortom).
Overtnews gathered that all 13 governors elected on the platform of the PDP, are expected to be present to deliberate on a wide range of issues including the state of the nation as well as that of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the leadership of the party, among others.
Also, present at the meeting are Sheriff Oborevwori, Dauda Lawal, Duoye Diri, and Ahmadu Fintiri, governors of Delta, Zamfara, Bayelsa, and Adamawa respectively.
