Gov Uzodimma – Senator Adamu, Omisore Voluntarily Resigned

The Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, has clarified the controversies surrounding the ousted Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and the party’s national secretary, Iyiola Omisore.

It would be recalled in the early hours of Monday, July, 17, 2023 there were reports that Senator Adamu and Omisore had resigned following pressures from key members of the party.

Also, at the scheduled National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the party on Monday it was reported that Adamu was no where to be found at the meeting which authenticated the report that he may have resigned.

But in a meeting on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 by APC Governors headed by Uzodimma, he clarified that both Senator Adamu and Omisore voluntarily resigned from their positions without them being forced to do so.

Governor Uzodimma while responding to questions from journalists on the lingering crisis in the party said there is no crisis in the party adding that the part supported the actions of Senator Adamu and Omisore.

He said, “We deliberated on so many issues as they have to do with our party, the APC.

“You must have heard of the resignation of the National Chairman of our party and the National Secretary of our party.

“Those are voluntary actions that have been taken and with due respect to our former National Chairman and the Secretary, we commended the wisdom behind the action they have taken.

“They served us well in the party and we are happy with their services and the party is united. There is no crisis in the party.

“They are happy and we also are happy and we are in support of their actions.”

On the current economic situation in the country and in view of the recent increase in price of fuel and the federal government’s measure in addressing the untold hardship on the masses, the Governor assures that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the government will initiate a formidable plan that will be geared towards cushioning the effects of the removal of subsidy on fuel.

This news website had on Wednesday reported that about N2 trillion will be disbursed to the three tiers of government in the month of July, the highest monthly allocation ever.

The rise on the figure of allocation was due to the savings gotten from the discontinuation of subsidy.

“The lifting of fuel subsidies is expected to increase the funds available to states from the Federation Account.

“On the upcoming FAAC, we are aware that as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy, it will increase the volume of money that will be received in our purses during the Federation Account meeting and we are working with the Federal Government to ensure that it is utilized in a manner that the citizens are happy and the economy of the country will be protected.

“The current hardship occasioned by the price increase is being addressed.

“The subnational governments are working with the federal government and on Thursday there will be a meeting of the National Economic Council to cross the “ts” and dot the “i”,” the Governor added.
