Gunmen Burn Down Palace Of Prominent Traditional Ruler After Looting

The palace was completely set ablaze after the gunmen took out time to loot the multi-milion naira mansion carting away valuables.

A yet-to-be-identified gunmen have reportedly set ablaze the palace of Eze-elect of Okwuru Orsuihiteukwo in Orsu Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, Chief Ezekiel Nwokedi.

The palace was completely set ablaze after the gunmen took out time to loot the multi-milion naira mansion carting away valuables.

To this, villagers have fled to nearby forests for safety.

It uncertain if the dastard act was committed by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as Orsuihiteukwa, has been one of abodes of the criminal group in the state.

Narrating his ordeal, the Eze-elect who is also the Chairman of Odinma Orsu Initiative (OOI), an apex socio-cultural group, told journalists that the armed men attacked in the late hours of Saturday, August, 5, 2023.

He called on the state government and security agencies to intervene.

“Hoodlums attacked my home on Saturday night, looted valuables worth millions of naira, and set it ablaze. I have nothing left for me. This is my most tragic moment. I am speechless. I only call on the government of Imo state and the security agencies in the state to intervene,” he said.

It was gathered that the Eze-elect has been canvassing for drastic measures to be taken against criminal elements and their activities in the LGA but despite his outcry he is now a victim of the incessant attacks in the LGA.
