The Lagos Annex, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2, Alagbon, has initiated an investigation into the assault allegations made by the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

The singer had submitted a petition on June 27, 2023, claiming that he was assaulted among other allegations by music promoter Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, and 15 others.

According to the petition, Mohbad accused the group of armed individuals of storming the location of a music video shoot, causing damage to equipment worth over N5 million and assaulting him.

He also alleged that they threatened his life during the incident.

In response, the police department revealed that they invited Sam Larry and the other suspects for questioning, and they cooperated by providing statements.

However, Mohbad failed to appear at the police station to defend his petition and provide evidence to support his claims.

Additionally, a lawyer representing Sam Larry and the other suspects submitted a counter-petition, accusing Mohbad of defamation of character.

Despite several attempts to reach Mohbad, he did not participate in the investigation.

The Police Public Relations Officer of FCID Annex, Lagos, Oluniyi Ogundeyi, stated that the police could not proceed with the case if the petitioner refused to defend their claims and provide evidence.

The police emphasized their commitment to a thorough investigation and urged individuals with valuable information to come forward.

The controversy surrounding this case escalated when a video emerged showing Sam Larry and others harassing Mohbad during a music video shoot, prompting outrage on social media.

Sam Larry, known for his association with Naira Marley, has since deactivated his Instagram account following online attacks.

Sadly, Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.

His management released a statement confirming his death and requested privacy during this difficult time.

The Nigeria Police Force assured the public that they will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s assault allegations as part of their commitment to justice in this case.
