Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, the member representing Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has issued a stern warning of a N10 billion defamation lawsuit against Big Brother Naija All Stars housemate, Venita Akpofure, and the organizers of the reality show.
This action comes in response to Venita’s recent comments, which he claims have defamed the Tiv Nation.
Venita Akpofure found herself in hot water after making controversial statements suggesting that Tiv men give out their wives to visitors for entertainment purposes.
These remarks immediately sparked outrage among the Tiv people of North Central Nigeria, with numerous calls for legal action against her.
Hon. Tarkighir has taken a firm stance on the matter, asserting that both Venita Akpofure and the Big Brother Naija brand must be held accountable for providing her with a platform to allegedly defame an entire tribe.

Taking to his Facebook page to express his views, the lawmaker declared, “#Venita Akpofure – Slam a 10BN defamation suit on her, the Big Brother brand, and its promoters. They provided her with the mega platform to defame an entire tribe and are equally liable for not disowning her.”
It is noteworthy that Venita Akpofure has a personal connection to the Tiv culture, being the mother of two daughters with Terna Tarka, a Tiv man from Benue State.
This legal threat adds another layer of controversy to the ongoing discussion surrounding Venita’s statements, leaving many to wonder how this situation will unfold in the coming days.
