As the November 11 Governorship Election in Imo enters crucial stage, opposition parties and mischief makers have started looking for ways to put the State Governor, Hope Uzodimma who is seeking a reelection in a bad light.
A recent criticism from Ideato in Imo State says the state governor was responsible for the Umuchima gully erosion but it was discovered to be false.
According to a video sent to Overtnews, The Umuchima gully erosion started way back when Rochas Okorocha was governor of the state. Indigenes from the area claimed that the Senator Okorocha did not take into consideration the resultant effect of not making proper plan but he went ahead to construct a road from Okpoko.
It was gathered that the Okpoko road and its water channel was not properly linked to Urashi river which led to the Umuchima gully erosion.
The gully erosion started when Senator Okorocha, representing Imo west district was still governor of the state, he ignored it despite claims that he passes through the road which half of it has been taken over by erosion to his hometown.
However, this is will be history for Ideato people as the Umuchima gully erosion has been captured in the budget with the effort of Governor Uzodimma – this was what Senator Okorocha who claimed to be representing people and despite more than four years in office could not achieve.
Leaders should be applauded in areas they performed than putting them in a bad light when elections approach.
What Governor Uzodimma portrayed for the Ideato people as long as democracy in Imo is concerned should earned him a second chance to prove his worth as governor.
