Imo State Amalgamated Markets and Traders Association and all market executives were led by their President, Emmanuel Ezeanochie (JP) to the official governorship campaign launch event of Sen. Hope Uzodimma on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
The flag-off ceremony, which took place at the Dan Ayiam Stadium in Owerri, was a resounding success thanks to the presence of Sen. Kashim Shettima, who was a representative for Sen. At the occasion was Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Several APC governors and senators, numerous federal and state ministers, federal and state constituency members, Imo State government officials, former Imo State governors, the APC National and State Working Committee, the Imo APC 2023 Governorship Campaign Council, etc. were all in attendance at the flag-off ceremony.
APC party supporters, representatives from numerous political and sociocultural organizations, students and trade unions, traditional and religious organizations, and individuals from all corners of the state flocked to the stadium, filling it to capacity, to express their unity and pledge their unwavering support for Governor Hope Uzodimma’s reelection campaign.
In his speech, Governor Uzodimma lauded and extolled some of his admirable accomplishments in all facets of the Imo economy during his first four years in office and pledged to continue bringing new projects to the people of Imo if re-elected in the state’s governorship on November 11th.
According to him, “We have rescued our State from the infrastructural decay we met on ground. We have repaired and revitalized the Medical sector, recovered the Educational sector, we’ve done a lot of jobs. I want to thank you all for your support and also assure you that I will not take your support for granted.
“I will improve on my performance, I will do better than I have done and by the grace of God, we will have a new Imo State where equity, justice and transparency will be the order of the day.”
The Vice President of Nigeria, Sen. Kashim Shettima, speaking of behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, thanked Imolites for the warmth reception given to him. He urged Ndimo to support the second term bid of Governor Uzodimma, while assuring of more progress and Federal benefits that Imo would attract if the State remains an APC State.
Other notable dignitaries that graced the occasion were the APC National Chairman, Sen. Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, the Chairman of Imo State Governorship Campaign Council and Governor of Cross-River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Others include the Governor of Sokoto State, Mr. Aliyu Ahmed, the Governor of Jigawa State, Mr. Umar Namani, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Ogun State, Mr. Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Yobe State, Mr. Mai Mala Buni, the Senator Representating Orlu Senatorial District, Sen. Osita Uzunaso.
