On Saturday, the Maiduguri Railway Terminus theft of a few train coaches was stopped by the Borno State Police Command.
According to reports, the authorities also arrested the suspects after acting on information provided by Good Samaritans in the area.
The source said, “A suspected theft of train coaches of the Nigerian Railway Corporation was foiled at the Maiduguri Railway Terminus following a tip-off by Good Samaritans. The police also apprehended the suspects.”
When contacted, Mahmood Yakubu, a spokesman for the Nigerian Railway Corporation, denied knowing about the incident but instructed our correspondent to speak with the regional manager to obtain more information.
When the regional manager’s phone number was called, it was revealed to be off.
Sami Kamilu, the police command’s spokesperson, did, however, confirm the incident and state that six suspects had been taken into custody.
