Real Madrid secured a commanding 4-0 victory against LaLiga contenders Girona on Saturday, with Jude Bellingham netting twice and Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo also finding the back of the net.
This win extended Real Madrid’s lead at the top of the table to five points. Unfortunately, shortly after scoring his second goal, the English midfielder was forced to leave the field due to injury.
Girona, who had been undefeated in 15 league matches since their previous loss to Real in September, had the opportunity to claim the top spot with a victory.
However, they remain in second place, while Carlo Ancelotti’s squad now sits at 61 points after 24 games.
The home team took the lead six minutes into the match when Vinicius Jr received a pass from Fede Valverde and skillfully curled a long-range shot into the net for his seventh league goal of the season.
Bellingham then extended the lead, capitalizing on Vinicius’ pass to score past Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga in the 36th minute. He added another goal in the 54th minute, tapping in a loose ball in the six-yard box.
Rodrygo completed the comprehensive victory after Vinicius provided his second assist of the game, unleashing a powerful shot into the far corner in the 61st minute.
However, Joselu missed a penalty in the dying moments of the match.
