South African police announced the arrest of six individuals in connection with the murder of renowned rap artist Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA.

The 35-year-old musician was fatally shot on February 10 last year outside a Durban restaurant just hours before a scheduled performance.

Police Minister Bheki Cele confirmed the arrests during a press conference in Durban, stating that the suspects would appear in court on Thursday.

The group includes a 36-year-old suspect identified as the oldest, with the possibility of more individuals being added to the list.

Provincial police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi provided details, revealing that those in custody include the “mastermind,” two gunmen, two spotters, and the “organizer of firearms and vehicles.”

Some of the arrested individuals were linked to separate murder cases, and two were apprehended in Eswatini. Interpol and cooperation with the Eswatini government facilitated their arrest, with extradition procedures now underway.
