Baba Ijesha Appeals Conviction for Sexual Assault

Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, seeking to overturn his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor.

In July 2022, Baba Ijesha was sentenced to five years in prison by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo for the said offense.

However, he now challenges this decision, claiming he was set up and merely acting according to a script provided by a colleague.

Baba Ijesha’s lawyer, Kayode Olabiran, argued that his client was invited to act in a scripted scenario by Damilola Adekoya, his colleague, and that the entire incident was a setup.

On the contrary, the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Babajide Martins, urged the court to dismiss the appeal, asserting that it lacks merit and is based on misconceptions.

The case continues to stir debate and attention as it unfolds in the appellate court.
