Barcelona’s Move For Erling Haaland Transfer Might Keep Xavi at Helm – Reports

Barcelona is reportedly eyeing a transfer move for Erling Haaland from Manchester City in 2025, aiming to persuade current manager Xavi to extend his stay at Camp Nou.

Despite Xavi’s earlier announcement of his intention to step down at the end of the 2023-24 season, Barcelona’s recent successes have sparked speculation that he could reconsider.

Barcelona sees ambitious recruitment as a key strategy to convince Xavi of the club’s potential for further achievements. Mundo Deportivo suggests that Haaland, the prolific Norwegian striker, is their primary target for the summer of 2025.

While Haaland has been previously linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona believes they can compete for his signature, especially considering reported exit clauses in his contract with Manchester City, which runs until 2027.

With Robert Lewandowski approaching 36 years old in August, Barcelona sees Haaland as an ideal long-term replacement.

His addition would not only address the potential departure of Lewandowski but also strengthen the team under Xavi’s leadership in challenging coaching roles.
