It was gathered that protesters forcefully entered the NERC complex on Monday.

Meanwhile, employees, represented by the NLC and the Trade Union Congress, gathered at various electricity distribution company offices on Monday to oppose the tariff hike in Band A.

This protest, organized by labour unions, was in response to the Federal Government’s decision to raise electricity tariffs and eliminate subsidies in the power sector.

The planned nationwide protests also aimed to shut down the NERC headquarters in Abuja, as well as the Ministry of Power and state offices of power distribution companies.

NERC announced the tariff increase for Band A customers during a press briefing in Abuja on April 3, stating that affected customers would now pay N225 per kilowatt-hour, up from the previous rate of N68/kWh.
