Chief of Staff Reveals Rift: Unveiling Tensions Between Governor Fubara and Predecessor Wike Amid Rivers State Crisis

In the midst of the political crisis engulfing Rivers State, Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, shed light on the underlying reasons behind the strained relationship between his principal and former Governor Nyesom Wike.

According to Ehie, the root of the issue lies in the quest for exclusive control of the state’s resources by a select group of political leaders.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service commemorating the governor’s Supreme Court victory in Ahoada East Local Government Area, Ehie cautioned that Governor Fubara is prepared to impart a political lesson to his adversaries.

This statement underscores the seriousness of the situation and suggests potential consequences for those involved in the political strife within the state.

“The problem we have in the state is that 11 persons said they will control the resources of Rivers State. These 11 persons now called 20 others to allocate resources to themselves,” he said.

The Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State was filled with joy and celebration on Saturday as residents from various backgrounds came together to mark Governor Fubara’s victory at the Supreme Court, four months after the ruling.

The thanksgiving event, hosted at Western County High School Ahoada, commenced with a choir performance followed by a sermon, during which the preacher encouraged Governor Fubara to remain devoted to serving humanity.

Following the church service, the atmosphere transitioned to politics, with community leaders, women, youth groups, and loyalists from the 13 political wards expressing their support for Governor Fubara through dance and spirited displays.

State lawmakers aligned with Governor Fubara, led by newly elected Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, reiterated their commitment to his success.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Fubara, his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, hinted at the political tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Ehie cautioned that despite Fubara’s youthfulness, he possesses the capability to impart a political lesson to his opponents, underscoring the determination of the administration to navigate through any challenges it may face.

“We are going to teach them a lesson of political arithmetrics. What that small boy will do to you you’ll know that khaki no be leather (sic),” Ehie stated.

The celebration reached its peak with the Chief of Staff’s generous gesture of presenting N200,000 to each of the 65 small-scale business owners and N500,000 to each of the 13 coordinators of the Simplified Movement.

This act of kindness and support not only added to the jubilant atmosphere but also demonstrated the administration’s commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs and grassroots organizers. Such initiatives serve to uplift the community and foster a sense of unity and progress among its members.
