DSS Issues Advisory,Warns Nigerians Against Crowded Gatherings in Advisory

The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued an advisory, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant and cautious during religious observances to avoid potential threats, especially in crowded gatherings.

In a statement released on Friday by DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, citizens were reminded to report any suspicious activities or movements to the security agencies, particularly during the Ramadan and Lent periods.

The advisory emphasized the importance of promoting understanding, compassion, and respect among worshipers, regardless of religious affiliation.

Afunanya cautioned against economic exploitation and profiteering during these sacred obligations, urging stakeholders to uphold ethical standards.

Acknowledging the significance of the Lenten and Ramadan periods, the DSS called for empathy, cooperation, and conflict prevention beyond these religious observances.

Also,The media was encouraged to contribute to informed and accurate engagements to enhance national security objectives.

Moreso, Residents were advised to remain vigilant against public dangers, including Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and to avoid crowded or suspicious areas. Any unusual objects, activities, or movements should be promptly reported to relevant security agencies.

However, the DSS reaffirmed its commitment to providing strategic intelligence to ensure a safe and secure country for all citizens.

“Likewise, residents are advised to remain vigilant against public dangers especially Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Also, the general public is urged to stay informed about potential threats; avoid crowded or suspicious areas, and report to relevant security agencies any strange objects, activities, and movements of hostile elements.”

“In the same vein, the Service calls for tolerance, bonds of brotherhood, dialogue and peaceful coexistence among the populace. Overall, the Service recommits to provision of strategic intelligence to other sister agencies in order to achieve a safe and secure country.”
