In a shocking turn of events, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, has appointed Vice President Mohammad Mokhber as the acting President of the country with immediate effect.

This decision comes in the wake of a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, and several other high-ranking officials.

Overtnews reports that the crash, which occurred on Sunday in the northern province of East Azerbaijan, resulted in the loss of all nine individuals on board, including a provincial governor. In light of this devastating incident, Khamenei has declared five days of national mourning to honor the victims.

According to reports, the Iranian constitution mandates that new presidential elections must be held within 50 days of such an occurrence. As the nation grapples with this unexpected tragedy, condolences have poured in from various world and regional leaders, expressing their sorrow and shock at the sudden loss of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian.

Amidst the outpouring of sympathy, an Israeli official has categorically stated that Israel had no involvement in the helicopter crash, dismissing any potential speculation or allegations regarding their role in the incident.

“It wasn’t us,” the official told Reuters.
