EFCC, Cubana Chief Priest Settle Naira Abuse Charge Out of Court

-

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and celebrity barman, Cubana Chief Priest, have reached an agreement to settle the naira abuse charge outside the courtroom.

Cubana Chief Priest was arraigned before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on three counts related to the abuse of naira, spraying, and tampering with the nation’s currency at a social event, which allegedly contravened the Central Bank Act of 2007.

The socialite was accused of spraying the naira during an event at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024, and was granted a N10 million bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos State on April 17.

The charge sheet filed by the EFCC’s prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), outlined the allegations against Cubana Chief Priest for tampering with funds in the denomination of N500 during social events in 2020 and January 2024.

Details of the settlement between EFCC and Cubana Chief Priest remain undisclosed as of now.
