Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian has expressed his excitement about Chelsea officials monitoring his performances, with ongoing negotiations for a significant transfer deal.

Chelsea have reached an agreement on personal terms with the 17-year-old, often referred to by the nickname ‘Messinho,’ which he dislikes. The club is pursuing a deal with Palmeiras valued at approximately £60 million.

Chelsea representatives attended Wednesday’s match against Independiente del Valle to observe Estevao and fellow 17-year-old Kendry Paez, who is set to join Chelsea next summer.

When asked about Chelsea’s interest after the game, Estevao told ESPN, “Man, I’m really happy. I think they are watching because of what I’m doing with Palmeiras.”

“Today, my mind is 100% Palmeiras, and I’m trying to help Palmeiras as much as possible on the pitch. [Chelsea’s interest] is a consequence of that. God willing, he’s blessing me.”

Estevao’s contract with Palmeiras includes a release clause of £47 million, which must be paid upfront. However, Chelsea is negotiating a deal that would involve a higher overall fee but with more favorable payment terms.

According to reports, Chelsea aims to pay an initial £27 million, with an additional £21 million in performance-based add-ons. They would also cover taxes, bringing the total potential cost to around £60 million.

Although Bayern Munich had been mentioned as possible competitors for Estevao, they are not expected to pursue the deal. Barcelona, despite being admirers of Estevao and his expressed interest in joining them, are unlikely to be contenders due to their ongoing financial difficulties.
