The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has made changes to the officiating team for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Benin Republic and Nigeria.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in the Ivorian capital on Monday, 10th June 2024.

Ethiopian official Bamlak Tessema Weyesa, who was initially appointed as the referee for the encounter set to kick off at 4pm, has been replaced. Gabonese official Pierre Ghislain Atcho will now officiate the match.

Weyesa’s compatriots, Temesgin Samuel Atango and Tigle Gizaw Belachew, remain as assistant referee 1 and assistant referee 2, respectively. However, Ethiopian Tewodros Mitiku, who was originally designated as the fourth official, has been replaced by Cameroonian Antoine Max Effa Essouma.

The originally-appointed referee assessor, match commissioner, and security officer will retain their positions for the Day 4 encounter. This match follows closely after the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, in a Day 3 battle.
