Folorunsho Alakija Breaks Silence Amid Divorce Rumours


Nigerian billionaire businesswoman, Folorunsho Alakija, has reacted to rumors of a marriage crisis.

Reports filtered in over the weekend, that the richest woman in Nigeria had separated from her husband.

Speaking on Monday, Folorunsho asserted that her peace remains unshaken.

The couple, married since 1976 with four children, had reportedly maintained a united front due to their public status.

According to social media reports, Modupe Alakija was said to have moved out of their Ikoyi home in Lagos, yet remained in the same neighborhood. Folorunsho Alakija, responding to the speculation, shared a message on her social media platform, expressing resilience against negativity.

“Your heart will not be broken by evil-doers. Negativity will not break your heart. The enemies will not break your heart. Nothing shall threaten your peace. You will have peace in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Your peace will be all around and intact,” she declared.

Born on July 15, 1951, Folorunsho Alakija is celebrated as Africa’s richest woman, serving as the Group Managing Director of The Rose of Sharon Group and the Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil Limited.

Modupe Alakija, a lawyer and son of the famed Nigerian legal practitioner Adeyemo Alakija, is her husband of nearly five decades.
