Funke Akindele Mourns Loss of Jenifa’s Diary Co-Star Jumoke Aderounmu


Actress Funke Akindele has expressed grief over the passing of her colleague, Jumoke Aderounmu, known for her role in Jenifa’s Diary.

Aderounmu, aged 40, passed away on April 6, as confirmed by her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, via Instagram.

Akindele shared her condolences on Instagram, describing Aderounmu’s death as “sad.”

Fellow actress Lala Akindoju and Tayo Sobola also paid tribute to Aderounmu.

A funeral service has been held for the deceased at Owu Baptist Church, Totoro area of Abeokuta in Ogun State.

Aderounmu, who played the character Esther in Jenifa’s Diary in 2016, had a notable career in Yoruba cinema and television, including roles in Alakada* and *La Femme Anjola.

She was an alumna of Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in international relations from Obafemi Awolowo University.

In 2012, she produced the first season of her TV show, The Lounge with Jumoke, featuring celebrity interviews and fashion opinions.
