How Erling Haaland Can Ascend to Messi and Ronaldo Heights – Gerard Pique

Erling Haaland has been advised on the path to reaching the levels of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, with former teammate Gerard Pique acknowledging that the Manchester City striker still has a “long way to go.”

Despite his impressive debut season at the Etihad Stadium, where he notched 52 goals, Haaland’s journey towards the heights of Messi and Ronaldo is ongoing.

Despite some injury setbacks this season, Haaland has continued to showcase his scoring prowess with 29 goals.

While he has yet to clinch prestigious awards like the Ballon d’Or and FIFA Best, many anticipate that Haaland will achieve such accolades in the near future.

Whether he will ignite his own Greatest of All Time (GOAT) debate remains uncertain, but Pique, who has played alongside Messi and Ronaldo, recognizes Haaland’s potential to compete with the elite.

He said: “I think he has a lot of potential but to arrive at the level of Messi and Cristiano, it’s a long way to go. He has to win so many titles, he has to do this for 15, 17, 20 years and this is not easy also. He’s very young, very promising and he has a lot of potential but still I think he’s far away from those two.”

City is still in the running to defend all three titles they secured in 2023, with Haaland playing a crucial role in Pep Guardiola’s strategic blueprint moving forward.

However, concerns persist regarding his fitness, underscoring the importance of careful management for the talented 23-year-old going forward.
