Junior Pope Must Be Buried Beside The River He Drowned – Anam Community Insists

The community of Anam in Anambra State finds itself embroiled in a contentious dispute over the burial of Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, who tragically fell into the Anam river during a movie shoot.

Anam Community, comprising eight villages in Anambra West Local Government Area, is divided over the burial location, with some residents insisting on laying him to rest beside the river, citing spiritual beliefs tied to the well-being of his children and the community.

Despite opposition from his family, who refuses to surrender his body, tensions escalated when attempts to retrieve his body from the hospital were thwarted by the doctor in charge, who reportedly locked it in a private room.

Further complicating matters, a faction within the community advocates for transporting the body to a specific shrine before 2 AM, where a herbalist purportedly holds the key to resurrecting him.

Amidst the turmoil, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, and several Nollywood actors have reportedly intervened, supporting the controversial decision to take Junior Pope’s body to the shrine.

As the dispute unfolds, Anam Community grapples with balancing tradition, spirituality, and the wishes of the deceased actor’s family, raising profound questions about cultural practices and beliefs in the modern era.
