Junior Pope’s Body Wasn’t Buried by Riverside, Anambra Police Clarifies

Anambra police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, has refuted claims suggesting that the body of actor Junior Pope was buried by the riverside.

He stated that only three families consented to the burial of their deceased relatives beside the river following the tragic April 10 boat accident.

Five individuals, including Junior Pope, were among the casualties when a boat carrying 12 passengers capsized on the Anam River in Anambra West Local Government Area.

The police confirmed the arrest of the two boat operators and the voluntary surrender of Adanma Luke, the movie producer.

Ikenga emphasized, “The Command has discovered that three of the deceased families accepted that the victims should be buried beside the river,” adding that one family later opted to exhume the body for a proper burial elsewhere. He clarified that Junior Pope’s body, along with one other victim, remains in the morgue pending funeral arrangements by their families.

Furthermore, Ikenga assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway, promising transparency and accountability in determining any criminal liability related to the incident.
