Kaduna School Abduction Planned, Condemns Banditry-ACF


The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) asserts that the abduction of 287 students in Kuriga community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday, appears to have been orchestrated by the bandits.

According to the group the incident is a disconcerting reality, especially in light of the substantial public resources allocated to the security sector.

The forum’s National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba, issued a statement on Saturday,urging the Federal Government to implement new measures to tackle insecurity, including the much-discussed Special Schools Security Scheme and anti-kidnapping squads.

Additionally,The forum denounced the bandits’ attack on a mosque in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state on Friday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. It characterized the assault as a poignant reminder of the relentless presence of the bandits.

Also,the Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the affected community, where he reassured leaders and families of the abducted students of the government’s commitment to their rescue and the enhancement of security measures.

Meanwhile, Governor Uba Sani refuted claims of negotiation with the abductors, emphasizing the state’s unwavering stance against capitulating to criminal demands.

The abduction of the schoolchildren is one among many mass kidnappings of students in the country. On Saturday, some bandits stormed an Islamic school in Sokoto and took away 15 students alongside a woman.
