Kannywood Mourns the Passing of Veteran Actress Daso


Saratu Gidado, affectionately known as Daso, a prominent figure in Kannywood, the Hausa-language film industry, has passed away, leaving fans and colleagues in mourning.

Relatives of the late actress revealed the shocking news to Freedom Radio, confirming that Daso was discovered lifeless on Tuesday morning, having peacefully passed away in her sleep.

The tragic discovery was made after Daso had returned to bed following Sahur, the pre-dawn meal eaten before the fast begins during Ramadan.

At 56 years old, Daso, born on January 17, 1968, in Kano, leaves behind a legacy cherished by many in the entertainment industry.

Renowned for her comedic prowess, Daso endeared herself to audiences with her portrayals of spirited and mischievous characters throughout her illustrious career.

Her cinematic journey began in 2000 with the movie “Linzami Da Wuta,” a production by Sarauniya Movies, marking the inception of a remarkable career that spanned over two decades.
