Liverpool Suffers Triple Blow As Injury Woes Escalate after FA Cup Loss to Man Utd

Liverpool head coach, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo all suffered injuries during the club’s 4-3 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The defeat ended Liverpool’s hopes of securing a quadruple in what was described as one of the FA Cup’s most thrilling matches.

Despite taking the lead, Liverpool faced a dramatic turnaround with goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah before Antony’s late equalizer forced extra time.

Ultimately, Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo secured the win for Manchester United in the 121st minute. Klopp revealed the injuries to his star forwards in his post-match press conference.

“Now the boys go on international duty,” Klopp said. “We hope they come back healthy. Lucho [Diaz] felt his groin, Darwin a hamstring. Cody twisted his ankle. They play again in four or five days, it’s crazy.”

Diaz and Nunez are fortunate that their respective national teams, Colombia and Uruguay, have matches scheduled in Europe for March.

Colombia will face Spain at London Stadium and Romania at the Civitas Metropolitano in Madrid, while Uruguay will take on a Basque Country XI in Bilbao and then African champions Ivory Coast in Lens.

As for Gakpo, he will join the Netherlands squad for their upcoming friendlies against Scotland and rivals Germany.

Liverpool will be eager for their injured players to recover fully, along with those carrying knocks, ahead of their return to Premier League action on March 31 when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield.
