Manchester City clinched their fourth consecutive Premier League title with a 3-1 victory over West Ham United on the final day of the season.

Under Pep Guardiola’s leadership, City has been dominant in the league over the past decade, securing six of the last seven Premier League titles. Despite a strong challenge from Arsenal this season, City’s key players delivered crucial performances when it mattered most, continuing their habit of success in recent years.

The only season Manchester City failed to win the Premier League in the last seven years was the 2019/20 campaign, which was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and saw Liverpool claim the title.

In recent seasons, Liverpool had been City’s main rivals, but Arsenal has now emerged as a serious contender for the title. Unlike last season, when Arsenal’s hopes collapsed in April, they pushed City until the final day this season.

Arsenal’s significant improvement this season can be attributed in part to their acquisition of Declan Rice for £105 million, who provided defensive stability and creativity to their attacking play.

Meanwhile, Manchester City relied heavily on the performances of Phil Foden, particularly in the absence of the injured Kevin De Bruyne. Foden’s contributions were crucial to City’s success, and it’s difficult to imagine them winning the league without his standout performances.

While both Arsenal and Manchester City had impressive seasons, City’s flawless run of results after drawing with Arsenal on March 31st proved decisive. Arsenal’s title challenge faltered with a crucial defeat to Aston Villa in April, and their failure to secure more points against mid-table teams like Fulham was equally damaging.

Ultimately, Manchester City’s ability to consistently win crucial matches in the business end of the season was the key to their success.
