Manchester City ascended to the summit of the Premier League with a commanding 4-0 triumph over Fulham on Saturday, spurred by Josko Gvardiol’s brace.

Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, City now find themselves just two victories away from securing an unprecedented fourth consecutive English title. Gvardiol struck early to put City in the lead, followed by Phil Foden’s 25th goal of the season in all competitions, further cementing their dominance.

As Gvardiol found the net once more, City effortlessly secured three crucial points on a sun-drenched afternoon at Craven Cottage. Julian Alvarez then sealed City’s superiority with a late penalty after Fulham’s Issa Diop was sent off for a foul on the Argentine.

Now leading Arsenal by two points, City eagerly await the outcome of Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United, hoping for a favorable result to bolster their title aspirations.

With just two more wins needed, City could clinch their sixth title in the last seven seasons. Their relentless pursuit of victory saw them extend their winning streak against Fulham to 16 games, a feat unmatched in English football history.

Guardiola had emphasized the importance of the Fulham fixture, labeling it as the first of four “finals” for City as they aim to secure the title and triumph in the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester United. City rose to the occasion, extending their unbeaten league run to 21 games and narrowing Arsenal’s goal difference advantage to just two.

Despite concerns raised by a social media video showing Fulham players flying a kite during training, City remained unfazed, dominating proceedings from the outset. Guardiola’s meticulous preparation paid off as City executed a fluid 19-pass move culminating in Gvardiol’s opener.

Although City suffered a setback with Nathan Ake’s injury, their attacking prowess remained undiminished, with Bernardo Silva and Foden testing Fulham’s defense. City’s relentless pressure paid dividends as Foden doubled their lead with a well-placed strike, before Gvardiol extended their advantage with a clinical finish.

Alvarez then put the finishing touches on City’s masterclass with a stoppage-time penalty, securing a comprehensive victory and inching them closer to the title.
