Nigerian Actress Abimbola Craig Recounts Near-Death Experience After Brain Surgery


Nigerian actress and acclaimed film producer, Abimbola Craig, bravely shared her harrowing journey of survival after undergoing a critical brain surgery in 2014.

In a video posted on her YouTube channel, the renowned star of ‘Skinny Girl in Transit’ opened up about the daunting aftermath of the procedure, which left her grappling with severe health complications.

Craig disclosed experiencing debilitating symptoms including nausea, insomnia, and significant weight loss following the surgery.

Despite seeking medical assistance, her condition remained a perplexing mystery to her doctors, who resorted to multiple spinal taps (lumbar punctures) in a bid to diagnose her condition.

At one point, they even suspected meningitis as a potential culprit.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Craig recounted the anguish of feeling her health deteriorate rapidly, recalling, “Four days after the surgery I started feeling weird but I could not explain what it was that was wrong with me.”

The actress struggled to eat, sleep, and maintain her appetite, further exacerbating her distress.

Detailing her medical encounters, she revealed enduring four lumbar punctures in a single day, underscoring the intensity of her medical crisis.

“I remember my last ER visit…they still did not know what was wrong with me so they thought I had meningitis,” she shared.

Despite the overwhelming challenges, Craig emerged triumphant from the brink of death, emphasizing her gratitude for being alive and well today. “10 years after my surgery, I am alive. I am healthy and doing things I never thought I’d be able to do again,” she expressed, acknowledging the profound impact of her journey.
