One Dies Several Abducted As Armed Bandits Raided Defence Minister, Bello Matawalle’s Town in Zamfara

Bandits launched an attack on Maradun town, the administrative center of Maradun Local Government Area in Zamfara State, resulting in the death of one person and the abduction of several others.

Maradun happens to be the hometown of Bello Matawalle, the former governor of the state and current Minister of State for Defence.

Although the police authorities in the state have not yet commented on the incident, a resident of the town, Nura Maradun, told journalists that the bandits raided the town at approximately 1 am on Friday, armed with sophisticated weapons.

According to Maradun, the bandits engaged in indiscriminate firing to intimidate residents and proceeded to abduct individuals from house to house within the town.

“They came in around 1 am and operated till 4 am unchallenged. They went on to search house by house looking for people to be kidnapped,” he said.

“From what I can confirm to you now, one person was killed, and about eight persons most women have been taken away. Some of the women kidnapped are daughters of the Emir’s brother.”
