Tinubu Suspends Rural Electrification Agency Boss and Three Executives


President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Managing Director/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad.

The suspension was confirmed in a statement on Thursday,by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.

The decision follows a thorough investigation into financial activities within the REA, which uncovered concerning findings leading to the suspension of the Managing Director/CEO, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad, and three Executive Directors.

President Tinubu’s commitment to good governance and service delivery for Nigerians is evident in his swift action to address alleged fraudulent misexpenditure totaling over N1.2 billion. Anti-graft agencies have already begun recovery efforts.

Meanwhile,Tinubu appointed a competent interim management team comprising Abba Abubakar Aliyu as Managing Director/CEO, Ayoade Gboyega as Executive Director of Corporate Services, Umar Abdullahi Umar as Executive Director of Technical Services, Doris Uboh as Executive Director of Rural Electrification Fund (REF), and Olufemi Akinyelure as Head of Project Management Unit, Nigeria Electrification Project.

However,The President reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the aspirations of Nigerians for good governance and high-quality service delivery over the personal interests of individuals entrusted with critical responsibilities to the Nigerian people.
