Tinubu Vows Justice for Slain Military Personnel in Delta Attack

President Bola Tinubu has pledged that the perpetrators behind the gruesome killing of military personnels in Delta State will face justice.

The incident, which claimed the lives of a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, twelve soldiers, and a civilian during a rescue mission in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area, has sparked widespread condemnation.

President Tinubu condemned the attack as “unprovoked” and “dreadful,” emphasizing that the cowardly offenders responsible for the heinous crime must not escape punishment. Expressing profound grief over the loss of the gallant soldiers, he extended heartfelt condolences to their families, colleagues, and loved ones.

As the Commander-in-Chief, President Tinubu highlighted the dangers faced by servicemen and women in the line of duty, praising their heroism, courage, and patriotism.

“As the Commander-in-Chief, I join all well-meaning Nigerians and the men and women of our armed forces to mourn and express my profound grief over the needless death of our gallant soldiers,” Tinubu said.

He further stated, that the killing further illustrates the risks that servicemen and women encounter in the course of their duties.

Also,He reiterated the nation’s commitment to honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard Nigeria’s safety, strength, and unity.

Meanwhile,President Tinubu underscored that any attack on them is a direct assault on the nation itself. He declared full support for the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Staff in bringing the perpetrators to justice, ensuring that those responsible face the consequences of their actions.

However,President Tinubu affirmed his government’s unwavering dedication to achieving peace and tranquility across Nigeria, promising relentless efforts until every part of the nation is free from violence.

“I salute their heroism, courage, and uncommon grit and patriotism,” he said.“

As a nation, we must constantly remember and honour all those who have paid the ultimate price to keep our nation safe, strong, and united. The officers and men who died in the Okuama community have joined the pantheon of great men and women who gave their all, with honour, in the service of our fatherland.”

“Members of our armed forces are at the heart and core of our nationhood. Any attack on them is a direct attack on our nation. We will not accept this wicked act.”

“My government will not relent until we achieve peace and tranquillity in every part of Nigeria,” he said.
