Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham has addressed the ongoing issue of flooding in Lagos, highlighting the impact of heavy rains on parts of the island.

Expressing concern over blocked drainage systems, Abraham urged both the community and leaders to take responsibility.

She emphasized the need for residents to clear drainage paths and avoid obstructing water flow, stressing that such actions are crucial in mitigating flooding.

“While there’s a lot to say about what the government is or isn’t doing, today, I want to focus on us, the people who live in Lagos,” Abraham tweeted. She called for a collective effort to change behaviors that contribute to the flood problem, underscoring that without such changes, solving the issue would remain elusive.

The actress also pointed out a recent effort by the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, sharing a video of cleaning activities at Coconut Bus Stop on the Apapa-Oworonshoki expressway. Abraham urged Lagosians to support government initiatives aimed at preventing flooding, noting that responsible governance and citizen cooperation are essential for sustainable improvement.

The tweet has sparked discussions on social media about the role of community action and governmental support in addressing Lagos’s perennial flooding challenges.
