Uzodima Appoints Self In Charge Of Lands As He Inaugurates Commissioners

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has embarked on a significant administrative stride, swearing in 24 Commissioners and inaugurating 19 Special Advisers as his second-term administration kicks into full gear.

In a statement released by Oguwike Nwachuku, Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the Governor, Uzodinma reserved the ministry of lands to his office.

The oath-taking ceremony, held at the new Executive Council Chamber in Government House Owerri on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, marked the official commencement of their duties.

Among the first set of senior political appointees to take the oath were the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmos Iwu, and other key aides, emphasizing the solemnity of their responsibilities.

Governor Uzodimma promptly assigned portfolios to the Commissioners, reflecting his commitment to ensuring immediate functionality of his team.

Addressing the appointees, Governor Uzodimma stressed the importance of integrity, performance, and accountability.

He underscored the need for diligent service delivery, stating, “The performance of the second tenure must be better than the first term.”

The Governor urged the new members of the Executive Council to utilize their positions and interpersonal skills to drive success in their respective ministries and agencies.

Furthermore, Governor Uzodimma highlighted the significance of public trust, reminding the appointees of the scrutiny they will face individually and collectively. He emphasized the gravity of the oath of office, stating that it signifies the immense responsibilities entrusted to them by the people of Imo State.

In alignment with his administration’s stance against corruption, Governor Uzodimma urged the appointees to uphold the principles of Shared Prosperity 3R Government and deliver on their promises. To ensure accountability, a Monitoring and Evaluation Unit has been established to assess their performance quarterly.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of the appointees, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr COC Akaolisa, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve and pledged commitment to honorably discharge their duties.

The event, attended by prominent personalities including the Governor’s wife, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chike Olemgbe, and other dignitaries, symbolized a new chapter in Imo State’s governance, marked by a commitment to integrity, accountability, and effective leadership.
