Could Tinubu Be Losing His Memory?

-

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has continued to prove his critics right as it now appears he is losing his memory.

Yesterday, Tuesday, November 15, Tinubu trended on social media as a result of a gaffe he suffered in his speech at the flag of his 2023 campaigns.

The former Lagos governor while concluding his speech at the APC presidential campaign flag-off in Jos, Plateau state, mistakenly referred to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when he had his party in mind.

“…I hand over back to the chairman of the party before he disciplines me for leaving the President waiting and keeping him standing. We are calling, inviting the national chairman to invite the President. At least to close this part of the ceremony. Thank you, God bless you, God bless Nigeria. God bless PD…APC,” he said.

While this appears to be a slip of the tongue, this is not the first time Tinubu would goof in public, which now raises the question of whether he is losing his memory.

Recall that Tinubu had in July, forgotten the name of his party during an interview.

The former Lagos governor was speaking to members of the APC in public and almost addressed the party as “Action Congress.”

In a quick intervention, he was corrected by one of his aides standing beside him.

The same thing played out in October.

Tinubu while speaking at the seventh edition of KadInvest, an annual event organised by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency said Governor Nasir El-Rufai has a vision of turning a “rotten situation to a bad one.”

This statement generated a wave of reactions with rumours flying about that the APC presidential candidate might be suffering from dementia.

“We’re not going to let you run away, your vision, creativity, and resiliency in turning a rotten situation to a bad one is necessary at this very critical time. That is why we are here today,” Tinubu told El-Rufai.

Meanwhile, it is understood that there are allegations against Tinubu that he is not transparent with his academic credentials and that his source of wealth is questionable. Also, age is not on his side and his mental and physical health appears to be failing as videos online have captured occasions where his hands and body were shaking involuntarily. On a few occasions, he spoke he appeared to sound incoherent.

Tinubu is contesting for Aso Rock’s top job against Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) amongst others.

Atiku is 75 years, Tinubu claims he is 70 years old and Obi is 61.
